Mr. Glenn A. Cobb, 85, died Thursday, February 5,2009 at the Gordon Health Care Center after a lingering illness.
He was born May 27, 1923 in Alliance Ohio, son of the late Bereyl G. Cobb and Bessie L. Glass. He was married for over 50 years to the late Eleanor R. Cobb.
He attended Alliance City Schools, Fenn College for Business Administration and the University of Detroit for Engineering.
Glenn was a WWII Army Veteran. He served in the 8th Artillery Division, in Europe from December 1942 until February 1946. His service in army intelligence specialized in aerial photo reconnaissance analysis and later, judicial oversight of occupied territories. He was the president of the Cleveland, Ohio carpet distribution firm of Foster Dobler Inc. until 1972. After relocating to Calhoun, Georgia, he worked as an entrepreneur in the carpet industry. Glenn also invented the Wallypoc, which he manufactured and sold until retiring in 1998.
He is survived by three children, Ms. Beth C. Dolan of Silver Springs, MD, Corinne M. Masi of Miami FL, and Alan G. "Cobb of Castle Rock, CO as well as one grandson, Aaron E. Cobb, one brother William Cobb, and one sister Laura Sanders.
A memorial service is being planned in Alliance, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation to a charity of choice be made in memory of Glenn Cobb.
