Mrs. Glenda Hyde Smith, age 69, of Resaca passed away Sunday July 12, 2009 in Heartland Hospice of Cartersville following an extended illness.
Glenda was born in Gordon County December 23, 1939. Daughter of the late Albert Hyde and Loneita Kendrick Hyde. She was an alumna of Calhoun High School, Class of 1958. Prior to her retirement from General Telephone of Dalton she had been employed as a nurse at Gordon Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted Smith.
Survivors include her son Jimmy Norrell of Resaca, One brother, Carlton Hyde of Resaca. Her adopted Grandparents Johnny Mack and Emily Thompson of Calhoun, Cousins; Linda and Jim Adcock of Statesboro Ga, Eddie and Margie Lewis of Fairfield Tn. Norman and Nettie Lou Hollingsworth of Calhoun, Charlotte and Mark Shannon of Smyrna Ga. And Bobby and Mary Lewis of Atlanta. Two Nieces, Jennifer Hooper and Gina Mealor, and one nephew, Steve Hyde of Resaca.
Services will be conducted at 11:00A.M. Wednesday July 15, 2009 in The Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Blackstock officiating. Internment will follow in Fain Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include, J.W. Roberts, Paul Williams, Harold Dooley, Johnny Mack Brown, Johnny Thompson, Ronnie Reeves, and Ricky Hollingsworth. These men are asked to meet at the Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 till 8 in the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home.
