Mrs. Glenda Lewis Moore, age 68 and life-long resident of Gordon County, pass away Friday afternoon August 12, 2011. Mrs. Moore was born January 8, 1943 in Gordon County. Daughter of the late Glen and Iduma Holcomb Lewis. She was a retired school teacher with the Calhoun City School System, who's hobbies included reading and working in her yard. She loved to spend time in the North Georgia mountains but her favorite vacation spots were New York City and Charleston, South Carolina. She was a member of the Pine Chapel United Methodist Church but attended Calhoun First United Methodist Church. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Moore and a sister, Joan Lewis Blankenship. Survivors include, her daughter, Julie Moore and a son, Joey Moore and his wife Amy. Granddaughters, Abigail and Olivia Moore and a brother in law, James Moore all of Calhoun. A special niece, Vicki Blankenship of Rome along with several other nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Monday August 15th at 12 noon from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Dr. Brian Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Wesley Hunt in charge of graveside rites. Pallbearers serving include, Brent Burdette, Jerry Clements, Edward Lewis, David Densmore, Chris Sartin and Lyle West. Honorary Escorts will include, Jack and Maureen Poarch, Mildred Hand, Lynda Galloway, Jean Lewis, Carol Quinn, Judy Turnell, Dale McKinney, Donna Carney and Wes White, and Peggy Autry. The family will receive friends Monday morning August 15th from 10am until the funeral hour.
