Glenda Shirley Barnard

Glenda Shirley Barnard, age 81 of Calhoun and Gordon County died at 7:34 AM, Saturday. She was born, August 12, 1938, a daughter of the late C.A. and Clara Walker Shirley. She was a retired educator in the City of Calhoun School System with 32 years of service. She additionally taught one year in the Paulding County System. She was a longtime faithful member of the Farmville United Methodist Church. She received both undergraduate ( B.A.) and graduate degrees (M.Ed. in library science) from West Georgia College. Glenda is survived by her husband of 60 years, Reese Barnard, one daughter Kelli Barnard Knight and her husband Todd, one brother, Asa Shirley and his wife Agatha, and three grandsons, Landon, Sawyer, and Walker Knight. Funeral services will be Monday, 11:00 AM, June 1 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Buckman officiating burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 recommendations, a small family ceremony respectfully requested. A visitation will be Sunday, May 31 at the funeral home after 5:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to attend visitation while honoring social distancing. Thomas Funeral Home has charge of arrangements for the services of Glenda Shirley Barnard.
