Gladys Marie Casey Samples

Gladys Marie Casey Samples, age 76, of Calhoun, passed away Saturday November 18th at her residence. Gladys was born August 31, 1941 in the Red Bud Community, daughter of the late Lee Casey and Minnie McBee Casey. She was a member of the Blackwood Baptist Church and was a volunteer at the Blewer Food Bank. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Carl Melvin Samples and three brothers; James Casey, Zeb Casey and Roy Casey. Survivors include her son; Greg Samples and his wife Donna of Adairsville, daughter; Melva Bowen and her husband Donald of Sugar Valley, one brother; Troy Casey and his wife Diann of Calhoun, one sister; Shirley Harwell and her husband Sam of Calhoun. Four grandchildren; Ethan Samples and Magen Samples of Adairsville and Clay Bowen and Carson Bowen of Sugar Valley; brother-in-law, David Samples of Calhoun and sister-in-law, Marlene Cowart of Calhoun also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Monday November 20th at 1pm from the Blackwood Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Whitton and Rev. Wesley Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Wayne Neal officiating. Pallbearers serving include; Ethan Samples, Carson Bowen, Clayton Bowen, Jimmy Owens, David Patterson, Eddie Blackmon, Roger Serrit, Jim Ellis and Sean Samples. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hope Sunday School Class of Blackwood Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4 until 8pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Samples will lie in state at the church on Monday from 12 noon until the funeral hour.
