Gladys Reeves, age 93 of Calhoun, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 4, 2015.
Gladys was born on April 30, 1921 in Wells County, CO to the late Posey Brown and Beulah Campbell Brown. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and was formerly employed by Echota Cotton Mills and later Crown Craft. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Reeves; daughter, Cindy Jaco; brother, Fred Brown; and sister, Dot Starks.
She was survived by her three sons, Bobby Reeves and his wife Angie, Ronnie Reeves and his wife Gwen and Tommy Reeves and his wife Sue all of Calhoun; one daughter, Shelba Fortier and her husband Ron of Tottenham, Ontario; sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 8th at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Clifford Free, Reverend Fred McCoy and Reverend Luke Morgan officiating. Tonya Turner and “The Peacemakers” will have charge of music. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include Tommy Smith, Ray Reeves, Blake Gentry, Brandon Gentry, Josh Jaco, Chris Reeves and Jimmy Norrell.
Honorary Escorts will be William Tyner, Ronald Sexton, Russell Sexton, Jerry Davis, Eddie Phipps, Harold Hood, and also caregivers, April Russell, Lisa “Squeaky” Beasley, Robin Stallings and Reverend Luke Morgan.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
