Gladys Thomas Faulkinberry

Gladys (Granny) Thomas Faulkinberry, age 97 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at her residence. Gladys was born on March 1, 1915 in Gordon County. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Thomas and Katie Langston. She was a member of the Reeve’s Baptist Church and a retired textile worker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. (Jake) Faulkinberry in 2002; Infant son, Larry; son-in-law, Leslie Barnette; daughter-in-law, Sheryl Faulkinberry; brother, Virgil Thomas; and sister, Frances Dobson. Survivors include: one daughter, Ann Barnette; two sons, Ralph (Bud) Faulkinberry and Lynn Faulkinberry all of Calhoun; two brothers, Howard Thomas of Calhoun and Roy Thomas of Ringgold; two sisters, Lois Stone of Calhoun and Marilyn and her husband Julian Nix of Rome; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and her husband Harold Morris of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Jason and Michelle Barnette, Eva and Mark Hilderbrant, Denise and Mitch Worley, Anthony and Jamie Faulkinberry, and Eric and Amanda Faulkinberry; great-grandchildren, Dakota and Jessica Worley, Sarah Barnette, Stetson, Justin and Worth Faulkinberry, Clayton, Collin and Garrison Hilderbrant; special niece, Shelia Fuller; and special nephew, Barry nix. A number of nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, February 8th at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Jim Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 7th from 4 – 8pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers serving include: Phillip McDaniel, Philip Beamer, Billy Thomas, Dennis Thomas, Kirk Allen and Sam King. Honorary Pallbearers include: Jack Long, June Bearden, Donald Bearden and Gary West.
