Gertrude Slaughter

Monday, February 16, 2009 Mrs. Gertrude M. Slaughter, age 70 of Resaca died Saturday, February 14 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Whitfield County. Gertrude was born, August 7, 1938, in Canyon city, Colorado a daughter of the late Harold May and Gertrude Reddick May. A son, James Dean Slaughter and a grandchild, Marissa Slaughter, and a brother, Harold May Jr. also preceded her in death. She had attended the Resaca Baptist Church. Gertrude is survived by her husband of 51 years, James A. Slaughter of Resaca; three sons, Monty Slaughter and his wife Diana, Mike and Mitchell Slaughter all of Calhoun; two sisters, Ronnie Bigham and Katie Zundel both of Canyon city, Colorado; four grandchildren, Amanda, Amelia, Justin, and Torey Slaughter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 17 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverends Harold Blackstock and Howard Duvall officiating, and Randy Jones will have charge of music. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Donnie Everett, Keith Parker, Eric Rutledge, Gary Lanier, Jarred and Anthony Quinn and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:45 P.M. Tuesday.
