Geraldine Dempsey

Mrs. Geraldine Hays Dempsey, age 95 of the Plainview Community passed away at 3:15 AM, Saturday morning, April 25 at her residence. She was born in Bartow County, April 29, 1914, daughter of then late Hiram and Margaret McCarthy Hays. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. “Bill” Dempsey in 1990, a step-grandson, Chris Reed and a granddaughter in law, Terri Davis. Two brothers and eight sisters also preceded her in death. Mrs. Dempsey was a housewife, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. She was a member of the Plainview Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters and sons in law, Carol and Robert Davis, Myrna and Ed Taylor, Juanita and Donald Dempsey all of the Plainview Community; two sons and daughters in law, Terry and Darlene Dempsey of the Plainview Community, Rick and Teresa Dempsey of Calhoun; five grandchildren, Ronald and Sandra Davis of Memphis, Tennessee, Bryan and MaryAnn Davis of Hixon, Tennessee, Tim Taylor, Jason and Pauline Dempsey of Calhoun, Andrea Harmon and Monte Wilkey of Adairsville; four step-grandchildren, Chad and Crystal Hamby, Lee Hamby, and Misty Trotter, Jenny and Scott Banta; great grandchildren, Tyler Davis, Cassidy Taylor, Andrew and Abby Davis, Dustin and Taylor Harmon, Paton, and Hayden Dempsey; step great grandchildren, Kimberly and Stephanie Bradshaw, John Gravitte, Maggie and Lyric Greeeslin, Maddie and Parker Hamby, Tyler and Ashley Banta. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, April 27 at the Plainview Baptist Church with the Reverends Larry Hibberts, Gary Hibberts, and Mark Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery. The Dempsey family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Music will be arranged by Ronald Davis, Doug Roebuck, and Jim Griffin. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and include, Ronald and Bryan Davis, Tim Taylor, Jason Dempsey, Chad and Lee Hamby. Honorary pallbearers are nephews and include, Douglas and Larry Dempsey, Stan and Randy Brown, Jim Griffin, Sam Fortenberry, Douglas and Ray Hays; also, G.W. Shaw, Buck Baker, K.O.
