Gerald Eugene McCarver, 81, passed away June 10, 2014 at Emeritus at Big Creek Assisted Living in Roswell, GA, after living with dementia for a number of years.
Gerald was born in Gadsden, AL, and served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Jacksonville State University. He had lived in Calhoun, GA, since 1969 where he was an active member of the Calhoun First United Methodist Church, serving his Lord in many ways. Gerald retired from Shaw Industries in Dalton, GA. Before and after retirement, Gerald and his wife, Judy, shared a love of RV camping and travel and were active members of the NorWeGA Good Sam Camping Club.
Gerald was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law Ann McCarver (Kenneth) Beason, Attalla, AL; Mary McCarver (Allen) Malone, Attalla, AL; Jeanette McCarver (Floyd) Anderson, Ashville, AL; and Joseph McCaghren, Mobile, AL.
Gerald is survived by his wife Judy McAllister McCarver, Roswell, GA; Son Stacey (Sherry) McCarver, Marietta, GA; Daughters Kim (Don) Owen, Swedesboro, NJ; Claudia (John) Hudson, Lawrenceville, GA; Sister Margaret McCarver McCaghren, Mobile, AL; Grandchildren Katie (Luis) Miranda, Marietta, GA; Christopher (Katrina) McCarver, Watkinsville, GA; Garren and Laken Owen, Swedesboro, NJ; Aleix, Riley, Kaelyn, and Devin Hudson, Lawrenceville, GA; and nieces and nephews Gerald McCaghren, Mobile, AL; Carol McCaghren Reynolds, Theodore, AL; Steve McCaghren, Mobile, AL; Robert Malone, Attalla, AL; Eddie Beason, Russellville, AL; and Karen Beason, Attalla, AL.
Honorary pallbearers are: Eddie Beason, Caleb Beason, Robert Malone, C.L. Craig, Jimmy Prater, Pat Thornton, members of the NorWeGA Good Sam Camping Club, and members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class of Calhoun First United Methodist Church.

Memorial Services will be conducted on Sunday, June 15th at 4:00pm from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Katie Mattox officiating. Bob Daniels and Donna Looney will have charge of music. Burial will follow at a later date in the family Hughes-Moragne Cemetery in Gadsden, AL.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral on Sunday from 2:00pm until the funeral hour at 4:00pm at the funeral home.
