Gerald Wayne Bell

Gerald Wayne Bell, age 89 of Fairmount, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at his residence. Gerald was born on August 13, 1927 in Gordon County to the late Wayne Blake Bell and Jessie Ruth Crawley Bell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane King; brother, John Bell; and two sisters, Lottie McCarty and Dorothy Godfrey. Gerald was employed by the Georgia Department of Transportation paving department for 27 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue Buttrum Bell of Fairmount; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Larry Thacker; one grandson, Kevin Thacker; and five nieces, Susan Hyde, Sabrina Poole, Vickie Gresham, Theresa Mitchell and Brenda Godfrey; one sister-in-law, Deborah Bell; and his dog, JoJo also survives. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 3 PM at Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Langston. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Randy Abernathy, James Hyde, Blake Poole, Lamar Johnson, Steve Brannon and Johnny Griffin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Goldman, Ronnie Childers and Charles Boswell.
