Tuesday, March 25, 2008 Mr. George H. Odom age 78 of Calhoun died Monday March 24th. in Gordon Health Care following an extended illness. Mr. Odom was born in Darlington Co. South Carolina on May 11, 1929 son of the late Murray Thomas Odom and Edith McInville Odom. Mr. Odom had lived in Calhoun since 1968, was a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church and was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. He was Past President of the Cherokee Capital Fair, a member of the Calhoun Lions Club, the Optimist Club, the Winner’s Club , a former Boy Scout Leader, served with the U.S. Navy and was active in The Care-Givers of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Allen Odom in October 1979. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law; Missy and Grant Glaze of Calhoun, four grandchildren; Carson , Cullen, Carter and Caitlyn Glaze all of Calhoun, two brothers; Ariel and Leslie Odom both of Hartsville, S.C. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday March 26th. from the Calhoun First Baptist Church with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include; Marion Broome, Richard Lowery, Wilson Baxley, Kenneth Connor, Chuck Faulkner and Jerry Brumbelow and they are asked to meet at the Funeral home at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening.
