George Watson Childers, Jr., age 72 of Fairmount, GA, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at AdventHealth Gordon.
George was born on February 5, 1948 in Pickens County to the late George Watson Childers, Sr. and Ora Parker Childers. He was employed by Soloman & White for 40 years as a truck driver, and Mohawk for 10 years. George loved mowing his lawn and driving trucks. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Max Childers and his wife Jean, Tom Childers and his wife Wanda, Guy Childers and his wife Brenda; brother-in-law, Ham Childers; sister-in-laws, Betty Jo Chastain, and Ann Childers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sandra Childers; daughter, Dondra Hendrix and her husband Allen; brothers, Ed Childers, James Childers, Herman Childers and his wife Lynn, Bobby Childers and his wife Martha, Melvin Childers and his wife Sally; sisters, Linda Childers, Gail Neighbors, and Bonnie Pruitt and her husband Ronnie brother-in-law, Tim Stafford, Jeff Stafford and his wife Vanessa, and Johnny Chastain; two grandchildren, Dawson Hendrix and Donovan Hendrix; special nephew, Blake Childers and his wife Elizabeth; two special cousins, Kenneth and Dennis Childers; his special dog, Tazz also survives.
Celebration of life will be conducted on Thursday, January 21st at 3 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Johnson officiating. The family will receive friend from 1 PM until 3 PM.
Due to the National health crisis and Covid-19 virus, mask must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
