George W. Carver

George W. Carver, age 80 of Adairsville, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 at his residence. George was born on June 14, 1931 in Bartow County. Son of the late Henry Clay Carver, Sr. and Ruby Penson Carver. George was a resident of Kennesaw for 38 years. He was formerly a member of Kennesaw First Baptist Church and Calhoun First Baptist Church where he served as a church training director, Sunday school teacher, and a deacon. He also served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by; One brother, Edward Carver. And five sisters; Eunice Davis, Gladys McCarley, Beatrice Barrett, Lucille Baggett, and Edna Gaines. He was a great father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Survivors include; his wife, Jo Mary F. Carver of Adairsville. Two sons; Neal Carver and his wife Debbie and Tim Carver and his wife Karen both of Ellijay. Two daughters; Alison Cronin of Cartersville and Patti Brooks and her husband Jeff of Jasper. Two brothers; Henry Carver and his wife Mildred and Elmus and his wife Brenda both of Adairsville. Nine grandchildren; Jon Carver, Shane Carver, Buck Cronin, Amelia Cronin, Ethan Brooks, Mathis Carver, MaryJo Brooks, Mayson Carver, and Madison Carver. Two great-grandsons; Clint Carver and Weston Barfield also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, December 14th from Calhoun First Baptist Church with the Revs. James Bond and Clifford Duvall officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Ridge Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00p.m. on Tuesday, December 13th at the funeral home.
