George Richard Campbell

George R. Campbell, Jr. age 65 of Acworth died Saturday, September 5. George was born, February 26, 1950 in Tampa, Florida, son of the late George R. Campbell, Sr. and Emmaleen Shelor Campbell .He is a descendant of the Shelor family, a pioneer Gordon County family. George had spent most of his life living in the Atlanta area and had a long management career in the retail grocery business. Most recently he was employed by Publix near Woodstock. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodstock. George is survived by one daughter, Rebekah Puma; three sisters, Shelor Campbell Gilbert, Katie Campbell Jordan, and Jennifer Campbell Fendley; and three granddaughters, Alexis, Crystina and Kaitlyn. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside of Fain Cemetery on Monday, September 7 at 3:00 P.M. with the Reverend Doug Roebuck officiating. The Campbell family will assemble briefly at Thomas Funeral Home on Monday, September 7 at 1:30 PM preceding the graveside service. Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services of George R. Campbell, Jr.
