Mr. Gene A. Paul, age 76 of the Adairsville Community, passed away on Saturday evening, April 12th at his residence.
Gene was born, June 1, 1937 in Dayton, Tennessee, son of the late William Autra Paul and Pauline McCoy Paul. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Paul and Ernie Paul; three sisters, Brenda Paul, Ruth Haddock, and Patricia Rogers; and a granddaughter, Lindsey Freeman.
Gene was retired from Ringgold Motor Company and American Credit Financial. He had served in the Tennessee National Guard and was later activated into the US Army. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, and Christian mission work. He was a Good Samaritan Board Member; Trustee of the Belmont Baptist Church; chairman of the Gene Paul Benevolence Ministry; and a member of the Belmont Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Sportsman’s Sunday School Class.
Gene is survived by his wife, Sue Dixon Paul of Adairsville; children, Steve Paul and his wife Gaye of Maryville, Tennessee, Gina Gateley and her husband Robert of Cookeville, Tennessee, Kelvin Paul and his wife, Tina of Maynardville, Tennessee, Keith Paul and his wife, Debbie of Knoxville, Brian Lee, also known to his radio listeners as Kevin Daniels, and his wife Kim of Adairsville, daughter-in-love, Debbie Oxford of Hixon, Tennessee; brothers, George Paul of Melbourne, Florida, Joe and Tom Paul of Dayton, Tennessee; sisters, Nellie Roberts and Dorothy Price of Dayton, Tennessee, and Ona Wingate of Jacksonville, Florida; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 16th at 11:00am at the Belmont Baptist Church with the Reverend Bob Bagley officiating. Jim Sellers will have charge of music. The body of Mr. Paul will lie in state at the church from 10:00am until 11:00am prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery.
The Paul family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers are Billy Hamilton, Bob Holder, Jimmy Knight, Mark Pickett, Steve Ralston, and Lynn Walter. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Sportsman’s Sunday School Class.
