Friday, May 08, 2009 Rev. Miles Eugene (Gene) Clark, age 75 of 201 County Line Rd., Plainville, Ga. died this morning (Thursday) in Redmond Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Gene was born in Gordon County on Oct. 16, 1933 son of the late Ernest and Nellie Conaway Clark and had spent his entire life here. He was a member of the House of Prayer Church in Calhoun, was retired from Mohawk Carpets in 1996. He was a well-known pastor and had pastored Churches in Gordon, Bartow, Floyd, and Polk Counties. He and his wife had sung with the Gospel Pilgrims for over 20 years. He was a member of the Plainville Masonic Lodge #364 F & AM since 1967 where he was a Past Master, he had also served as Past Master of the Gordon County Masonic Convention and a Past Sec & Treasurer of the Gordon County Buford A. Ingle Memorial Association. He was also a member of the Etowah Eastern Star and was Past Worthy Patron. In addition to his parents his first wife Margaret Williams Clark preceded him in death and a sister Virginia Parrott. Survivors include his wife Mildred Octavie Evans Clark of Plainville, to whom he was married November 21, 1979, his children; Joseph Clark of Adairsville, Teresa and Cary Hall of Adairsville and Ondrea and Ed Thoreson of Plainville, Tony and Anna Evans of Talbotton, Ga., Alfred and Linda Hall of Adairsville, Dianne and Edward Hicks of Rome , Hazel and Shane Towe of Cartersville, Donna and Philip Turner of Fancy Gap, Virginia, Vivian Hall and Enos Stockbridge of Emerson, Ga. , Dimple Myrick of Adairsville , Arlene and Tim Dasher of Emerson,one brother and his wife; Alton and Faye Clark of Lake City, Florida and one sister and her husband; Bonita and Billy Autry of Plainville, Ga. 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. The body of Reverend Clark will lie in state at the House of Prayer Church on the Dew’s Pond Road, from 1:00 PM Friday until the funeral hour of 11:00 AM Saturday, May 9 with Rev. Andrew Campbell, Rev. Kevin Thomas and Rev. Richard Webster officiating. Burial will be in Fain Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites by the Plainville Masonic Lodge # 364, F.& A.M. The Second Coming along with Pat & Everett Nix will have charge of the music. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers and the Worshipful Master and Members of the Plainville, Lodge will serve as honorary pallbearers.
