Gary Lynn Hughey

Gary Lynn Hughey, age 73 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at AdventHealth Gordon.

Gary was born on September 20, 1951 in Gordon County, GA, son of the late Jack Hughey and Doris Wyolene Woodall Hughey. In addition to his parents, Gary is also preceded in death by his brother, Steven Hughey. Gary was a graduate of Calhoun High School Class of 1969 and attended West Georgia College for 4 years. 

Gary was a genuinely good person. He knew God existed and lived his life accordingly. You may remember him as a smart, witty guy with a very positive outlook on life. Even as his health failed he found joy in every day. He would spend his days with Riley, bird watching, playing computer games, and puzzles. 

Late in life he met his spouse Barbara, who he shared many interests with, talking cooking, history, archeology and politics. His true love was his miniature pinscher, Riley. His passing has left an profound emptiness behind.

Gary is survived by: his spouse, Barbara Nelson; and sister, Jacqueline Williams and her husband Daniel.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 11,2025 at 12 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. 

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 1 PM in Fain Cemetery.
