G. A. Holbrook

Monday, October 02, 2006 Mr. G.A. Holbrook, age 81 of 1117 South Wall St., died Saturday September 30 in the V.A. Hospital in Decatur, Ga. following several weeks of declining health. Mr. Holbrook was born in Cleveland, Tennessee on Feb. 16, `1925 son of the late Gordon Andrew Holbrook Sr. and Verdie Rickett Holbrook. He was a well known businessman having owned and operated. Holbrook Body Shop & Garage on South Wall St. in Calhoun. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the U.S. Army receiving commendations for service in the Pacific Theater and the Philippines. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wifes Doris Brown Holbrook in 1993 and by three brothers; Wayne, Paul, and Vernon and a sister Gertrude Armstrong. Survivors include Two Daughters; Judy Thurman and her husband Wayne of Calhoun, Debbie Thomason and her husband Doug of Calhoun, three sons; Rickey Holbrook and his wife Barbara, Ronnie Holbrook and his wife Gina and Craig Holbrook and his wife Lisa all of Calhoun. Two brothers; Edward and Gene Holbrook both of Calhoun. Eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Thursday October 4th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Causby officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by Ft. McPherson Honor Guard. Pallbearers serving include Michael,Mitchell, Tony and Randy Holbrook, Christopher Thurmon, Jason Hamrick and Derick Holbrook and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:30 P.M. Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday. Kenny Heron and Judith Arnold will have charge of the music.
