Fred O. Holland

Fred O. Holland, Jr., age 58 of Resaca, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Medical Center of Central Georgia. Fred was born on February 10, 1956 in Floyd County. He was the son of the late Fred O. Holland, Sr. and June Greeson Holland. He was a member of the Resaca Baptist Church and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a 1974 graduate of Calhoun High School, where he was a member of the Marching Band. He also played on the Calhoun High School Baseball Team when they won their first State Championship. He was a graduate of Jacksonville State University where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Music was an important part of Fred’s life, but the most important part was being a loving father and brother. He is survived by his son, Ory Holland of Plainville; daughter, Raleigh Richardson and her husband John of Atlanta; brother, Zip Holland and his wife Kim of Resaca; and one granddaughter, Paisley. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, September 13th at 11:00AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. David Maddox Jr, officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Mike Rutledge, Paul Davis, Jim Balliew, Frank Hutchinson, Rick Foster and Ory Holland.
