Franklin Leroy (Roy) Seritt

Staff Sergeant Franklin Leroy (Roy) Seritt, age 74 of Calhoun, passed away March 15, 2013 at the home of his daughter, following several months of declining health. Roy was a native of Gordon County, born on January 8, 1939 to the late DeWitt Seritt and the late Lola Brumlow Seritt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one grandson, Tyler Huey Talley; and one brother-in-law, Wayne Padgett. Prior to his illness Roy was an active member and deacon of Salem Baptist Church. He proudly served his country for 22 years in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was also a member of Sonora Masonic Lodge. Roy was a loving and dedicated family man and friend to many. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, Vivian Dean Seritt; two daughters, Pamela Seritt, and Stacey Whitfield and her fiancé Timmy Chastain; two sisters, Barbara Mullins and her husband Tommy, and Edna Padgett; one brother-in-law, Lamar Dean and his wife Margaret; two granddaughters, Hailey Kraut and her husband Ron, Erica Bowden and her husband Shamar; three step granddaughters, Amber Offutt, Casey Whitfield, and Christa Talley Grant; three great-grandsons, Trypp and Liam Kraut and Kymani Bowden; six step-great grandchildren, Bree, Isaac, Chloe, Karli, Kara and Carter. He also leaves behind special friends Jack and Geneva Bibb, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, March 17th at 2:00pm at Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. William Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Reverend Gary Bowman officiating with military rites. Active pallbearers serving will be Lamar Dean, Tommy Brumlow, Randy Reed, Huey Talley, Jimmy Gee, Kenneth Sutherland. Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of Salem Baptist Church. The Seritt family will receive friends on Saturday, March 16th from 6 – 9pm at Thomas Funeral Home.
