Frank James Walraven

Frank James Walraven, age 84, of Sugar Valley. Died Tuesday June 14th at his residence. Frank was born April 16, 1927 in Gordon County. Son of the late Fayette Walraven and Ludie Watkins Walraven. He was a member of the Sugar Valley Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Navy where he served as a Seabee. Prior to his retirement Frank worked in the electrical department for the City of Calhoun. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Walraven. Brothers, Doyle, A.B. and Boyd Walraven. His sister, Ruby Bob Black and a sister in law, Floy Walraven. A great granddaughter, Addy Davis also precedes him. He was a avid hunter and fisherman, who loved his family and his church, he especially loved to witness for Jesus. Survivors include his son, Bruce Walraven and his wife Cheryl of Calhoun. A daughter, Susan Walker of Sugar Valley. One brother, Jim Walraven and his wife Joan of Hill City. Two sisters, Ludie Faye Floyd of Sugar Valley and Mary Frances Joseph of Brunswick, Georgia. A sister in law, Helen Roach of Tennessee. Two grandchildren, Jennifer Davis and her husband Robert and Amanda Walker. Four great-grandchildren, Ryder Williams, Kendal Williams, Camden Davis, and Zayden Walker. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1pm from the Sugar Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Phillips and Rev. Dwaine Shadix officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include, George Hutchinson, Gray Hutchinson, Wade Floyd, James Collins, Mark and Brain Millican. Honorary escorts are the Senior Men's Sunday School Class and Bob Russell The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 9pm.
