Florence Silvers Hughes, age 84, of Sugar Valley, passed away Friday evening August 7th at Gordon Health Care.
Florence was born June 3, 1931 in Gordon County, daughter of the late Jack Blalock and Aline Jackson Blalock. She was a member of Welcome Gap Baptist Church and besides her parents was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Silvers, brother, Charles Blalock and his wife Juanita and an aunt, Dorothy Spearman.
Survivors include one son, Ricky Silvers of Calhoun, three daughters, Linda Fowler and her husband Mack of Chatsworth, Joan Silvers of Sugar Valley, Cindy Banks and her husband Bobby of Sugar Valley, one daughter in law, Marilyn Silvers, eight grandchildren, Tammy Silvers, Andy Fowler, Stacy Silvers, Anthony McDaniel, Mindy Banks Thomas, Brittany Palmer, Lexy Silvers, and Sadie Silvers. Eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted 2pm Monday August 10th at the Welcome Gap Baptist Church with Rev. Ernest Channell officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery with grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 until 6pm at the funeral home.
