Faynette Smith, age 90 of Calhoun, passed away on June 6, 2012 in Hamilton Medical Center.
Faynette was born on June 30, 1921 in Cherokee County. Daughter of the late David and Melinda Stanfield Wilson. She was a member of the Echota Baptist Church and was formerly employed by O’Jay’s. She was preceded in death by; her husband, James Howard “Jigger” Smith on July 11, 1992, three sisters, five brothers, two nephews, and a special friend Marie Leatherwood.
Survivors include; Two sons; Ted and Judy, and Jerry and Jill all of Calhoun. Two sister-in-laws; Pauline Wilson of Lindale, and Belle Wilson of Marietta. Four grandchildren. Twelve great-grandchildren. Two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends, and a special niece and caregiver, Judy Mealor Hall.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00am on Saturday, June 9th at Echota Baptist Church with the Reverend Don Walters officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include; Jim Leatherwood, Phillip Gilbert, Michael Gilbert, Danny Padgett, Clifford Mattos and Dave Wilson.
Grandchildren will serve as Honorary Escort.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 9pm on Friday, June 8th at the funeral home.
In addition to flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Echota Baptist Church.
