Faye Mealer Wilson

Faye Wilson, age 82, of the Ryo community, went to be with the Lord on December 4, 2023, surrounded at home by her devoted husband and loving children.

Born Lula Faye Mealer on December 15, 1940, she was the daughter of Claude and Willie Mae Mealer.  She graduated with honors from Fairmount High School in 1959 and married her high school sweetheart, Darrell Wilson.  They would have celebrated their 65^th wedding anniversary in January.

Faye drove a school bus for Gordon County Schools and retired after 27 years of service.

She was a long-time member of Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church where she attended faithfully as her health permitted.

Faye was preceded in death by her infant son, Mark Anthony Wilson; her parents, Claude and Willie Mae Mealer; her brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Jeanette Mealer; granddaughter, Kylie Jo Norman; and daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Patterson Wilson.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell E. Wilson; children, Sherry Shirley (Lewis), Ronald Wilson, Keith Wilson (Kelly), and Rhonda Cunningham (Kevin); 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and countless in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Thomas Funeral Home in Calhoun, Georgia on Wednesday, December 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. 

Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church on Thursday, December 7^th at 2:00 PM with grave side service following. Officiating the services will be Brothers Jerome Silvers, Jeremy Southers, and Ronnie Howard.

Faye will be carried to her final resting place by pallbearers Drew Wilson, Brad Wilson, Noah Cunningham, Wilson Giorgione, Gary Shamblin, Dustin Lambert, Gavin Phillips, Michael Burchett, Kyle Norman and Erich Heinlein.  John McAfee and Louie Watkins will serve as honorary pallbearers.
