Evelyn Neal

Wednesday, December 05, 2007 Mrs. Evelyn Woods Neal, age 87, a former longtime resident of Calhoun and presently of Rome died December 2 in Floyd Medical Center. She was born in Plainville, December 31, 1919, daughter of the late John T. Woods, Sr. and Lutie Owen Woods. She was a Gordon County resident most of her life. Also, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reese Neal, a sister, Willie Bell Wilson and two brothers, John T. Woods, Jr., and Murray Frank Woods. Evelyn loved to read and keep up to date on the latest news. She and her late husband, Reese traveled extensively in the US and Europe. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Calhoun. Evelyn spent the last six years as a resident of the Riverwood Assisted Living Home of Rome where her nephew, Dr. John T. Woods III and Christina B. Woods assisted with her care. One brother, Henley P. Woods of Dalton, several nieces and nephews, survives her. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 Friday, December 7 at Fain Cemetery with the Reverend Brian Clark officiating.
