Tuesday, January 06, 2009 Mrs. Evelyn Holtzclaw Mulkey, age 72 of Switch Road, Calhoun, went to be with the Lord Monday evening January 5th. at Gordon Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Mrs. Mulkey was born in Bartow County , Ga. on Oct. 7, 1936 daughter of the late Joe Oliver Holtzclaw Sr. and Mamie Sinyard Holtclaw . She was a member of the Plainville Church of God of Prophecy and a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Mulkey, a son; Ralph Oliver Mulkey and a brother; Claude Holtzclaw. Survivors include one son and daughter in law; Anthony and Shannon Mulkey of Calhoun, four daughters and son in laws: Charlotte Long and Beverly Mulkey of Calhoun, Teresa and Jimmy Smith of Calhoun and Sharon and Bobby Cook of Adairsville. Brothers and sisters in laws; Joe and Joy Holtzclaw of Powder Springs and Jerry and Sheryl Holtzclaw of Breman. Sisters and brothers in laws: Sybil Pitts of Rockmart, Opal and Melvin Dempsey of Dahlonega, Elizabeth and Bill Thompson of Marietta, Carolyn Roberts and Cathy Ray of Canton, Doris and James Wallace of Waleska, and Mildred Davis of Elijay. Grandchildren; Amy Nix and her husband Scott , Russell Smith, Adam Cook and Brittany Whiting, great-grandchildren; Morgan and Jordan Smith. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. The family will receive friends Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at Plainville Church of God of Prophecy with the funeral services to be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday January 8th. at the church with Rev. Jerry Gaddis officiating. Interment will follow at Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens with Rev. Billy Lord in charge of the Graveside Rites. Pallbearers serving include Anthony Barnette, David Hall, Charles Prater, Dempsey Wright, Everett Nix, David Gilmore, Chris Watson and Ron Cagle and they are asked to meet at the Church at 1:45 P.M. Thursday. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Darnell as well as members of the Plainville Church of God of Prophecy. Music will be arranged by Joan Padgett, Ron Langley and Laverne Gravitt.
