Evelyn Carden Garren, age 82 of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014 in Gordon Hospital.
Evelyn was born on January 16, 1932 in Gordon County, daughter of the late Annes McKiney Carden and Eula Nichols Carden. She was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church. Evelyn was an avid bowler and golfer and member of the Calhoun Elkettes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Garren; brother, Herbert Carden; and father and mother-in-law, Loftis and Elba Garren.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Garren and his wife Deborah of Calhoun; two daughters, Gloria Davis and her husband Jerry of Calhoun, and Marlene Stringer of Nashville, TN; brother, Glenn Carden and his wife Ann of Calhoun; two sisters, June Bearden of Calhoun, and Jean Hawkins of Calhoun and her husband Helton of Calhoun; six grandchildren, Jonathan Garren, Jessica Temple, Lee Simmons, Elise Boyd Nizamutbinova, Rose Poland, and Mark Deraney; and three great-grandchildren, Jarred Temple, Addy Temple, and Isaac Deraney.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, December 27th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Jether Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Jonathan Garren, Lee Simmons, Danny Poland, Roger Bearden, Reed Bearden, Brian Carden, Darryl Hawkins, and Terry Butterworth. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 – 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
