Mr. Albert E. “Gene” Mashburn, age 79 of Calhoun died Saturday evening, May 9 at his residence.
Mr. Mashburn was born in Tifton, Ga., on August 1, 1929 son of the late Charles and Elsie Nations Mashburn . Gene had spent most of his life in Gordon County where he Attended the New Zion Baptist Church and was retired from Mannington. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Jack and Cecil Mashburn.
Survivors include his wife Maxine K. Mashburn of Calhoun, three sons; Larry E. Mashburn and his wife Anita of Dalton, Ricky L.Mashburn and his wife Linda of Calhoun and Jerry Mashburn and his wife Joann of Calhoun, one brother-in-law; Harold King of Calhoun and a sister-in-law; Sara Mashburn also of Calhoun. Nine grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday May 12th from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Connor officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by the Dalton American Legion Post.
Pallbearers serving include Clay , Josh, and Ryan Mashburn, Richard Black, Chris McCormick and Joey Spring and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at !0:45 A.M. Tuesday.
The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Monday evening.
