Thursday, August 16, 2007 Mrs. Etta P. McEntyre, age 101 of 185 Will Allen Rd. N.E., Calhoun, died Thursday morning at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. McEnryre was born in Gordon County on Dec. 22, 1905 daughter of the late William “Uncle Bill” Payne and Alice White Payne and had been a lifelong resident. She was the oldest member of the Belmont Baptist Church, was retired from Georgia Tufters and in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband J.F. McEntyre, two sisters; Edith Bolden and Anna Lou Godsey and one brother; Harvey Payne. She was an avid reader, loved Needlepoint and Quiltmaking as well as an accomplished seamstress. Survivors include one son; Dr. James M. McEntyre and his wife Caroline of Sarasota, Fl., And one daughter; Frances Allen of Calhoun. Two grandchildren; Sharon Hawthorne and her husband Harv and Mitch Allen. Two great - grandchildren; Chad and Kimberly Kearney and four great-great grandchildren . Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 Sunday August 19th. from the Belmont Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hawkins and Dr. John Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Billy Wood, Louie McEntyre, Jack McEntyre, Larry Gravitt, Mike McEntyre, L.C. Grogan and W.T. Housley and these gentlemen are asked to meet at Belmont Baptist Church at 12:45 P.M. Sunday. On Sunday the body will be carried to the Church to lie instate from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Linda Walters, Jim and Treva Sellers and Doug Roebuck will have charge of the music. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00P.M. Saturday evening.
