Estelle Messer

Sunday, November 05, 2006 Estelle Goble Messer, age 89 of Calhoun died at 9:50 AM, Saturday, November 04, 2006 at her residence. Estelle was born, May 24, 1917 in Gordon County, a daughter of the late, Robert Nathaniel B. Goble and Julia Brogdon Goble. Also, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cecil Messer; step-mother, Ollie Jorden Goble; a son in law, James “Monk” Quinn; and the following brothers and sisters, Pauline Goble Thomason, Gordon Lee Goble, Wallace King Goble, Robert Eugene Goble, John Baxter Goble, Floyd Goble, Newton Nathaniel Goble, Patsy Goble Wingate, Douglas McArthur Goble, Betty Goble Bailey, and Franklin Goble. She was employed by Calhoun Watch Shop for over 36 years, and was a member of Belmont Baptist church and the church-quilting club. She is survived by two sons, Rod Messer and Robert “Pat” Messer; one daughter, Gayle Quinn; five sisters, Odelle Goble Taylor, Winnie Goble Hobgood, Ethelyn Goble Pot, Nancy Goble Adcock, and Roxie Goble Leffew; one sister, in law, Jerlean Goble; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, November 6 at the Belmont Baptist Church with Dr. John Allen and the Reverend Jeff Hawkins officiating; Judith Arnold will have charge of music. The body of Mrs. Messer will lie in state from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church preceding the service. Burial will be in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers are the following nephews, Richard Goble, Johnny Goble, Larry Thomason, Chris Taylor, Barry Hobgood, and Marshall Bailey. Honorary pallbearers are other nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home Thomas Funeral Home has charge of arrangements for the services of Mrs. Estelle Goble Messer.
