Estelle Chastain

Mrs. Estelle Chastain, age 91, of Calhoun. Died Thursday morning January 13th in Calhoun Health Care. Estelle was born February 19, 1919 in Gordon County. Daughter of the late Walter Lee Craig and Haley Ada Moss Craig. She was a homemaker and member of the Ryo Baptist Church. Estelle was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Vester Chastain. A son, Larry Chastain. Brothers, Roy and Frank Craig. Sister, Molly Mae Chastain. Brother in law, Thurston Chastain and a sister in law, Opal Craig. Survivors include her two sons; Billy Joe Chastain and his wife Pat and Richard Chastain and his wife Faye all of Calhoun. Daughters; Shirley Teaque and her husband James of Calhoun, Bertha Smith and her husband Larry of Camden, SC., and Linda Hudson and her husband Mike of Calhoun. Twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Along with a number of nieces and nephews also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday January 15th at 3pm at Pleasant Grove/Ryo Baptist Church. With Rev. James Surratt and Rev. Harold Owens officiating. Carly Halmsley will have charge of the music. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Estelle will be taken to the church to lie in state from 2pm until the funeral hour. Pallbearers serving include; Timmy Chastain, Jerry Teaque, Mitchell Chastain, Kerry Hobgood, Robert Smith, and Brandon Hudson. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4 - 9pm.
