Mr. Ervin Lamar Mercer age 81 of Calhoun, died Tuesday May 4th. in Kennestone hospital following several weeks of declining health. Mr. Mercer was born in Paulding County on May 19, 1928 son of the late Clelan Ervin and Ruth Brown Mercer. He had made his home in Calhoun since 1976 was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church and was the owner operator of Mercer Marine Transportation Company and Mercer Airfield and World Aircraft Museum in Calhoun and enjoyed flying. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years Edna G. Mercer. Survivors include his wife, Edith Irwin Mercer, one daughter ; Bonnie Anderson of Calhoun, 4 grandchildren 7 great-grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren and 2 step-greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday May 6, 2010 from the Belmont Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hawkins and Dr. John Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Dallas Ga, City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M/ on Wednesday Evening.
