Ervin Dewey Maroney

Ervin Dewey Maroney, after being on hospice care for only a short while with cancer. Dewey died Saturday morning July 3rd at his home. He grew up in and around Guntersville, Alabama most of his life moving to Calhoun, Georgia in 1983. He begin working at Horizon Carpet where he retired in 1990. Prior to that he had worked 36 years between Boaz Carpets and S.C.T. in Guntersville. He and the former Margaret Louise Wright had been married since 1973. His parents were Gurley and Lola McPherson Maroney. Dewey enjoyed the Atlanta Braves, Auburn Football, family and friends. But, he especially enjoyed his 15 year old cat Smokey who died just 6 days prior to his own death. He was preceded in death by three sons; Wayne, Ralph, and David Leon Tedder. A special friend James (Pokey) Hall also preceded him in death. He was a wonderful husband, loving Father, and Grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Louise Maroney of Calhoun. Daughters; Margarett Teague and her husband Jeff of Albertville, Bonnie Bynum of California, and Phyllis Blower and her husband Kevin of Las Vegas. Sons; James Earl Tedder and his wife Rayanna of Atalla, Alabama, Larry Tedder of Boaz, J.T. Tedder of Florida, Jerry Maroney and his wife Mary of Albertville, Roger T. Maroney of Albertville, and Clarence Maroney and his wife Pat of Boaz. A sister, Reba Peppers of Boaz. Special friends; Dr. Anthony Captain, Starlin Fike, and Robert Terry. 28 grandchildren as well as a number of great-grandchildren also survive. The family will receive friends at Thomas Funeral Home in Calhoun Sunday evening from 5 to 9. Dewey then will be taken back home for visitation and funeral at Albertville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday July 6th at 2 p.m. CST from the Chapel of Albertville Memorial with Rev. Larry W. Perkins and Rev. J. Ben Killingsworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Rehobeth Cemetery in Guntersville. The family will receive friends at Albertville Memorial Funeral Home Monday evening from 5 to 9 CST. Pallbearers serving include; Danny Downer, Phil Falzarano, DeWayne Smith, Kevin Smith, Rickey Smith, and Danny Tedder.
