Ernest “Turk” Talley, age 84, of Calhoun, passed away Friday morning January 11th in Gordon Health Care.
Turk was born March 20, 1928 in Gordon County, son of the late Enoch and Bessie Wyatt Talley. He was a member of Blackwood Springs Baptist Church and was very proud of the fact that he had prefect attendants in Sunday school for more than 50 years. Turk was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving in both WWII and the Korean Conflict.
Besides is parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Flonnie Fletcher Talley, one brother, Elroy Talley, three sisters, Mable Bramblett, Sue Bramblett, and Jackie Sitton, as well as a infant brother and sister, Robert and Sara.
Survivors include three daughters, Gail Gramling and Gay Ann Talley both of Calhoun and Garah Childers and her husband Ronnie of Fairmount. One sister in law, Shirley Fletcher of Calhoun, six grandchildren, Aaron Childers and his wife Betsy, Ethan Childers and his wife Jerrico, Samantha Acree and her husband Ryan, Joseph Gramling and his wife Renee, Abigail Gramling, and Daniel Gramling. Two great grandchildren, Madison Gramling and Turk Christian.
Private gravesides rites were conducted at the request of Mr. Talley, the family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until 2pm at Blackwood Springs Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Blackwood Springs Cemetery fund.
