Ernest Edward Clark, age 89 of Calhoun, passed away on Saturday, September 17 at his residence.

 

Edward was born December 13, 1932, in Gordon County, the son of the late Robert Lee Clark and Katie Stone Clark. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, R.L. Clark, Orvin Clark, Geneva Clark Tate, and Jesse Clark.  He was an Honorably discharged veteran with service in the US Air Force. At retirement he was serving as a Supervisor at Georgia Tufters, Inc. He was a longtime member and Deacon at Echota Baptist Church.

 

Edward is survived by his wife, Suevera A. Stanfield Clark; one son, Michael Clark and his wife, “Charlie”; daughter, Tonya Clark Payne and her husband Mitch Payne; two sisters, Frances Clark Dale and Retha Clark Prater; grandchildren, Katie Clark, Jonathan Clark, Brandon Clark, and Katelyn Payne.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 18th from Echota Baptist Church with Reverend Lucas Butler officiating. Donna Stanfield Gay will have charge of music, and burial will be in Chandler Cemetery.

 

 The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 3 PM at Echota Church. Pallbearers are: Jonathan Clark, Brandon Clark, Cory Garneau, Eric Tate, Michael Langston, and Darren Langston.

 

In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Blewer Food Bank of the Gordon County Baptist Association.
