Tuesday, October 02, 2007 Mrs. Elsie Reeve Haynes, age 82 former resident of Calhoun died Monday , October 1st. in Brooks County Hospital in Quitman, Georgia following an extended illness. She had lived the last few years in the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. Mrs. Haynes was born May 23, 1925, in Calhoun, Ga. and was the youngest of four children born to the late C.P. Reeve, Sr. and Jewell Bridges Reeve. She graduated from GSCW(Georgia State College for Women) in Milledgeville with a Bachelor’s degree in education and a Master’s degree from Berry College in Rome. She was a retired teacher in the Gordon Co. school system, and was a piano teacher for many years in Calhoun. She was a former organist at Calhoun First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dalton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two children; James P. Haynes of Calhoun and Laura Haynes Murray of Homerville, Ga., a brother C.P. Reeve, Jr of Kennesaw, and a sister Elizabeth Reeve Dreyer of Carrollton. She is survived by her brother, W. Lawrence Reeve of Chattanooga, Tn., her son in law; Bill Murray of Homerville, and three grandsons; Ross Murray, Ben Murray and Trey Murray of Homerville, Ga. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday October 6th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home . Visitation will be Friday October 5th. from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
