Ellis D. Barton

Wednesday, March 19, 2008 Mr. Ellis D. Barton, age 76 of the Sonoraville Community died at 5:55 P.M. Tuesday, March 18th. at his residence following several weeks of illness. Ellis was born in Gordon County, August 15, 1931 son of the late Olin Reece Barton and Ruby Ellis Barton. He was a retired employee of Lockheed Aircraft of Marietta and a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army .. Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Barton of the Sonoraville Community, Three sons; David Barton and his wife Beth of Canton, Steve Barton of Lincolnton, Ga., and Barry Barton of Smyrna, Ga., one daughter; Lisa B. Szeder and her husband Eric of Canton, one brother; Max Barton of Talladega, Alabama, one sister; Lois West of Calhoun, and grandchildren; Jenna Paine , Jesse and Amanda Barton, Chase Szeder, Sarah and Rebecca Barton, Jason Barton and Laura Barton. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday atthe Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Naylor, Rev. Ike Parker and Rev. Darris Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga. at 1:30 P.M. Pallbearers serving include Marion Hall, Larry Thomason, Billy Galmon, Michael Chastain, Brian Daniels and Yancey Wilson and they are asked to meet at the Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. Friday morning. The family will receive friends Thursday March 20th. at the Thomas Funeral Home after 2:00 P.M. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the New Building Fund of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
