Eleanor Jane Frost, of Calhoun, died Saturday afternoon July 16th on her 88th birthday at her residence, following months of declining health.
Eleanor was born July 16, 1928, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Fred W. Benskin and Irene Newton Benskin. Besides her parents, her husband Howard Frost preceded her in death in 2009. They were married in 1956. The Frosts moved to Calhoun in 1977. Eleanor was a volunteer at Gordon Hospital for over 30 years, and was a familiar face at the registration table of blood drives during those years. She was a member of the Calhoun First Presbyterian Church where she served as the organist. She was also the pianist for the Calhoun Rotary Club.
She is survived by her two daughters; Carol Frost of Calhoun and Karen Edge and her husband Zane of Johns Creek, one son; John Frost and his wife Margie of Powder Springs, two grandchildren; Sabrina Frost and Ryan Frost. One sister; Arlene Hartman and her husband Wally of Maryville, TN, and a sister in law; Marilyn Hogan of Okemos, MI. Two nieces, two nephews, two cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and strong-willed cat “Oobe” also survive.
Graveside rites will be conducted Thursday morning July 21st at 10am from the Chandler Cemetery. Services to celebrate the life of Eleanor Jane Frost will be conducted at 11am following the interment at the Calhoun First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Bob Butler officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon July 20th from 4 until 7pm at the funeral home.
