Mrs. Edith Merle Dyer, age 85 of Calhoun died Thursday evening in Gordon Health Care of Calhoun following an extended illness.
Mrs. Dyer was born in Chickamauga April 20, 1922, daughter of then late John Roy Tate and Ella Wall Tate. Also, her husband, the Reverend William Dyer, preceded her in death.
Edith had formerly worked as a secretary and buyer at Miller Brothers Department Store of Chattanooga. She was formerly a member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church and is presently a member of the Belmont Baptist Church of Calhoun.
She is survived by one son, the Reverend Glenn Dyer and his wife Camilla of Whitehouse, Tennessee; one daughter, Jan Warnack of Calhoun; 5 grandchildren, Clint Dyer, Deanna Williams, Gregg Warnack, Amanda Charlesworth, and Candace Warnack; 6 great grandchildren, Caleb Dyer, Hannah Beth Williams, Haden Williams, Dylan Warnack, Vivian Charlesworth, and Evan Charlesworth.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 9 at the Belmont Baptist Church with the Reverend Jeff Hawkins, Dr. John Allen, and Reverend Glenn Dyer officiating. Burial will be in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park near Chickamauga. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 PM, Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Gregg Warnack, Clint Dyer, John Charlesworth, Mike Brown, Conroy Hill, and Patrick Williams
