Ebbie Jane Smith DeFoor

Ebbie Jane Smith DeFoor, age 88 of Resaca, GA, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023.

Ms. Ebbie Jane was born on February 21, 1935 in Resaca, GA, daughter of the late Dennis E. Smith and Ida Parm Culberson Smith. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by: her first husband, Donald King; second husband, Harlan Eugene Williams; third husband, Everette DeFoor; son, James Gregory King; eight siblings, Neatha McClain, Linda Potts, Patsy Colleps, Wynette King, Robert Smith, Jim Smith, Billy Smith, and Toby Smith. Ms. Ebbie Jane worked as a secretary for Texture Tex Sales for many years. Following the passing of Harlan, she took over Dixie Car Wash, continuing to care for numerous loyal patrons of many decades. After full retirement, she found joy in keeping her great grandchildren. They were her world! She loved to give… her love for helping people was one of her most beautiful characteristics and it continued throughout her lifetime. She loved watching birds… She loved the color pink… pink azaleas, hydrangeas, peonies & roses were her favorites! She loved planting and growing plants, and spent many years sharing this knowledge and love with her granddaughters.

During the past couple of years, a unique circumstance arose and she decided to live with two special families, Mr. & Mrs. Johnny Worley and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bunch. Not only did this present the opportunity for lots of time with her great grandchildren, but also, time with their grandchildren, whom she came to love dearly! She was able to shop a lot, and took a few trips to the beach, which she loved to do! She even became a huge Braves’ fan and loved to watch baseball! Our family is so grateful for the care and love they presented to her during that time!

Ebbie Jane is survived by: her daughter, Deborah King Greeson; one sister, Mary Dell Waters; grandchildren, Brandi Greeson Worley and her husband Brian, and Keisha Greeson Carney; great-grandchildren, Braxton Richards and his wife Courtney, Luke Worley and Macy Thomas, Ava King, Braylon Worley, Kam King, Logan Worley, and Gus Carney; and great-great-grandson, Beau Richards.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 1 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Clifford Free officiating.

Pallbearers serving will be Braxton Richards, Luke Worley, Brian Worley, Matt McClain, Ricky Smith, and Joey Potts.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 11AM until the funeral hour at Thomas Funeral Home.
