Doyle M. Cox, age 87 of the Ranger Community died at 9:10 PM, Tuesday, September 10 in Gordon Health Care. Doyle was born in Gordon County, January 13, 1926, a son of the late John Henry Cox and the former Miss Bertie Jenkins. Also, he was preceded in death by one sister and her husband, Marie and Max Silvers and a brother, Matthew Cox. He was employed for over 20 years by Lacey Mills of Fairmount and was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ella V. Ralston Cox; brothers, Bill Cox, Lloyd Cox and his wife, Nina, Carlbert Cox and his wife Nancy all of Calhoun, and Hanlan Cox of Dalton; one sister, Alma Cox Baker and her husband Jack of Resaca; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 12 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Brownie Ezell officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home, and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
