Douglas Lee Dorsey, age 92 of Calhoun died at 10:05 P.M., Saturday, August 23 in the Georgia War Veterans Home of Milledgeville.
Mr. Dorsey was born, November 20, 1921 in Calhoun, a son of the late Douglas D. Dorsey and Jessie Elizabeth Crump Dorsey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Neal Ingle Dorsey, a brother, Cale Vance Dorsey, and a step daughter, Brenda Carol Balliew.
Mr. Dorsey was a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant with many years of service, and he was a Mason. He had resided in Calhoun for over 42 years after retirement from the Air Force. Additionally he had been employed by Sears Roebuck, F.W. Woolworth, and Torrington-Fafnir Bearing.
He was a member of the Echota Baptist Church, and later he attended the First Baptist Church of Calhoun.
He is survived by three children, John Douglas Dorsey, Thomas Henry Dorsey, and Rebecca Wave Dorsey Balthazor and her husband, Tracy all of Salina, Kansas; a step-son, Kenneth Ingle and his wife, Kathy of Calhoun; one brother, Frank Dorsey and his wife, Wilda of Huntington, West Virginia; one sister, Geneva Norma Dorsey Hulsey of Calhoun.
He is survived by several grandchildren, Dana Real and her husband, Grant of Woodstock, Angie Brady, Rebecca Mathis and her husband Chad, Kim Brown and her husband Shaun all of Calhoun; Grant Dorsey of Salina, Kansas, Claire Schauer of Washington, DC, Sean Fischer of Salina, Kansas, Michael Fischer of Piney Flats, TN, Jacob Balthazor, and Joshua Balthazor
Great-grandchildren, Crosley Brady, Anna Real, Olivia Real, Haylee Mathis, Grace Mathis, Jack Brown, Andrew Fischer, and Brandon Lyon .
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, Ricki Dorsey Walraven, Vicki Dorsey Williams, Gail Dorsey, William Tyner, Tyra Tyner Godfrey, Leslie Tyner Ruff, Beth Tyner Straton, Frances Carol Dorsey, and Priscilla Dorsey.
Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside of Chandler Cemetery at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 25 with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating.
