Dorothy Mae Reeve, age 79 of the Sonoraville Community, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in Gordon Hospital.
Dorothy was born on June 8, 1936 at Spring Place in Murray County, daughter of the late William (Bill) Smith and Emma Holloway Smith. She was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Dorothy was a graduate of Murray County High School and received her B.S. in Education from Berry College before teaching for the Calhoun City School System for more than 10 years.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David Reeve in 2002; sister, Patricia (Pat) Gillean and her husband, Phil.
She is survived by her two sons, Tim Reeve and his wife Susan and Harlan Reeve both of Calhoun; one brother, James Smith and his wife Lillie of Spring Place; one sister, Aletha Fulbright and her husband John of Cartersville; one brother-in-law, Robert Reeve and his wife Sharon of Calhoun; four grandchildren, Aterriyah Reeve, Mathis Reeve, Braylon Reeve and Meredith Reeve; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday August 22nd at 3pm from the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Greg Burgner officiating and Rev. Chuck Smith speaking. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Chad Smith, Ronnie Smith, Chuck Smith, Tyler Luker, Trent Smith, and Courtney Taylor serving as pallbearers. Rita Crook as well as retired teachers and faculty and staff of the Calhoun City School System will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
