Dorothy M. “Dot” Maxwell, age 92 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in Calhoun Health Care. Dot was born on March 22, 1920 in Habersham County, GA. Daughter of the late W.C. Shore and Ida Ferguson Shore. Dot was a member of the Calhoun 1st Baptist Church and was a dedicated Elementary School teacher and librarian for the Calhoun City School System for 33 years. She and Bill were avid RVer’s traveling most of the U.S., Canada, Alaska, and as well as 28 Foreign Countries. They were members of the Friendship Force and lived and hosted families in and from foreign countries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; two brothers, one sister and only son Johnny Maxwell. Survivors include; her husband William “Bill” Maxwell whom were married more than 68 years of Calhoun. Cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00p.m. Thursday, April 12th from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include; Phil Beamer, Jeff Beamer, Perry Rawls, David Scoggins, Will Rawls and Ross Maxwell. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00p.m. on Wednesday, April 11th at the funeral home. In addition to flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Cancer Society.
