Dorothy T. Bearden, age 96 of Calhoun, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012 in Gordon Hospital. Dorothy was born on June 29, 1915 in Gordon County. Daughter of the late Thomas Alonzo Tallent and Sallie Elizabeth Cavendar Tallent. Dorothy was a member of the Union Grove Baptist Church, but was active in the Belmont Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery and Girl’s Auxiliary. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by; her husband Orion Asberry “Hoss” Bearden, son-in-law John Christian, daughter-in-law Sandra Owens Bearden, grandson Billy Bearden, Jr., two sisters, and three brothers. Survivors include; Two sons; Billy Bearden and his wife Bobbie of Calhoun and Tony Bearden and his wife Lonnie of Calhoun. Three daughters; Charlotte Christian, Dianne Kirby and her husband Charlie, and Kathy Cleveland and her husband Greg all of Calhoun. One sister, Bonnie T. Reeves of St. Augustine, FL. Twelve grandchildren and nineteen great- grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00p.m. on Saturday, April 14th from the Chapel of Union Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Crawford Greeson and Rev. Lamar Bearden officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include; Chuck Kirby, David Christian, Mike Christian, Bob Christian, Tyler Grant, and Alex Kirby. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00p.m. on Friday, April 13th at the funeral home.
