Doris Ruth “Brumlow” Lackey, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Buffalo Crossings Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in The Villages, FL.
Doris was born June 26, 1932, in Bartow County, GA, daughter of the late Frank Brumlow and Maude Slaughter Brumlow. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, Noah Harlow Foster, and devoted husband of 27 years, Calvin Lee Lackey; and her beloved daughter, Deborah Ann Foster.
Doris, one of nineteen children, is survived by her brother, Albert Sidney Brumlow of Summerville, GA; sister, Martha Brumlow Williamson of Brooklet, GA, and half-sister, Sharon Guttuso of Brandon, FL; two grandchildren, David Eric (Julia) Patterson of The Villages, FL, and Angela Patterson (Dale) Brown of Colfax, NC; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Bryce Brown and Amelia Grace Brown of Colfax, NC and numerous other extended family and friends.
Doris will be remembered for her fierce devotion to her family, her love of music and singing, and her ever-present sense of duty and care for others. Doris was a woman of faith and a member of several churches in Calhoun and later in life in Wildwood, FL.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 3, 2023, from 1:00 pm until the service hour of 3:00 pm at Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Stephanie Crossland officiating. A private interment will follow in Fain Cemetery.
