Mrs. Dorena (Johnnie) Taylor, age 85, Calhoun, died Sunday October 18 in Calhoun Health Care following an extended illness.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Gordon County on August 18, 1924 daughter of the late James A. and Rhett Coffee Fuller and had spent her entire life here. Her husband Clint Taylor also preceded her in death in 1982, also, a brother in law, Tom Champion, and a sister Virginia Fuller. She was a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was retired from the Gordon County Department of Family and Children Services having worked there from 1943 until 1980. Also, she was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Gordon County Department of Family and Children’s Services. .
She is survived by one sister; Betty F. Champion of Calhoun, a niece and nephew, Nancy and Jerry Nichols, and great nephews; Brian Nichols and his wife Tanya and Keith Nichols and his fiancée Dana Phillips.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 Tuesday October 20th from the chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Doug Roebuck officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include Jerry, Brian, and Keith Nichols, Darryl Elder, Wayne Miles, and Derek Dickard. Honorary escort will be the Ruth Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
