Donald "Boots" Rutledge

Donald “Boots” Rutledge, age 87 of Resaca, GA, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at his residence.

Donald was born on June 3, 1934 in Resaca, GA, son of the late Carl Seaborn Rutledge and Goldie Mae Edwards Rutledge. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bob Joyce. Donald was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Resaca First Baptist Church and prior to his retirement worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Donald loved his family, his children, and especially his grandchildren who were the bright spot in his life.

Donald is survived by: his wife, Jean Parsons Rutledge; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Donna Rutledge; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Johnny Couch; two grandchildren, Kayla and Avron Khan and Lisa and Gordon Callaway; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Khan and Hailey Callaway and adopted great-granddaughter, Samantha Callaway; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Sue Rutledge; and sister, Edna Joyce.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at 3 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Hibberts and Reverend Mark Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery with Reverend Greg Free in charge of graveside rites.

Pallbearers serving include: Johnny Couch, Gordon Callaway, Avron Khan and Todd Rutledge.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 1 PM until the funeral hour at 3 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
