Dixie Hobgood

Monday, February 08, 2010 Mrs. Dixie Wright Hobgood, age 91 of Calhoun died at 12:30 PM, Sunday, February 07, 2010 at her residence. Dixie was born February 8, 1918 in Fulton County, daughter of the late Robert L. Wright and Ruth Nance Wright. Also, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. Hobgood, September 26, 1991 and two brothers, Robert and Jack Wright. She lived most of her life in Gordon County; had served as an officer in the family business, C. and H. Bedspread Company. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Dixie is survived by her son, Frank Hobgood, Jr. and his wife, Ida of Anderson, South Carolina; one daughter, Jill Smith and her husband Jerry of Calhoun; one sister, Betty Wright Cahoon and her husband Winn of Smyrna; six grandchildren, Kahle Smith and his wife, Aiko, F.M. “Chip” Hobgood III, Stacie Jacobs, Kristin Spoon, Ashley Sharp, Holly Brickman; and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 9 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Minister Jule Medders and Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Bjorn Spoon and India Galyean will have charge of music, and burial will be in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers are Joel Ostuw, Sammy Cahoon, Zane Wright, Bjorn Spoon,Jeffery Dodd, Jeremy Jacobs, and Myron Baynes. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Monday at the funeral home.
